As an Architect I work on a regular basis with Committees, User Groups, Business Owners, Contractors, and Government Entities to develop both large and small projects in the region. I am analyzing all the factors that affect the clients project - from contracts, budgets, zoning, programs, needs, + wants to help them best determine the final scope of a project. There are times where hard budget conversations + decisions need to happen, and it is part of the job. I am also working with, and coordinating, large teams both internal and external for multiple projects at a time. This gives me a unique perspective and approach from most, to evaluate a given scenario and move towards a solution.
The best part of what I do is developing a solution that our clients are excited about. I know that the first idea we have for a given project will rarely be the final working solution, and it takes lots of adjustments and meetings with all parties to get to that point.
As a kid we lived and traveled all over the Midwest. Shortly after graduation, my wife and I stumbled across an incredible foreclosure in Bellevue. We decided to take on both the challenges and opportunities that this home has given us, and this is where we decided to start our family together.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, we met in 1999 as students at Omaha South High and have been married for 15 years. We have two amazing daughters that are in Bellevue Public Schools.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Design and a Masters of Architecture and attended both UNO and UNL. I have been practicing in the field of Architecture since 2005. The majority of the projects I have worked on have been local metro-area projects as well as nearby Nebraska and Iowa communities and I am passionate about every project as it has a lasting impact on our community + built environment.
I have also taught as an adjunct faculty member for two years at Metropolitan Community College as well as 1 year as adjunct faculty at UNL helping people learn the software tools that are used in Architecture. To help reinforce this I volunteered with the ACE mentorship program that teams with high schools and students in Engineering, Architecture, + Construction.
Completed Leadership Sarpy 2019-2020, and while I was already interested in running for City Council, it reinforced my mindset to be more active in the community rather than watching from the sidelines and questioning decisions being made.
